I would. For 20 years with him as head coach, they've had 2 losing seasons - this year and his first there. He's had 10 years of 9 wins or more. The previous 20 years before him saw 12 losing seasons. He knows what it takes to win at a school comparable to ours.

Yes but I do wonder if he's grown tired of the current state of play or he's just tired of Stillwater.

The man has had success at OSU but ... no. We want a coach on the upswing, not the opposite direction.

Sometimes coaches become renewed and energized with a change of location.

  • Gundy isn't getting fired. Apparently he has a clause in his contract that makes it renew automatically for an additional year and they are going to change that.

Yea, I don't want that. If he was coming back up, I'd consider it, but the guy is damaged goods and I don't think his next stop is going to light the world on fire unless it's a lower level school like G5.

Agree with above. The fire seems to be burning low. He used to be "I'm a man!" Now, more of a dead-pan.

If it were 2008, 2011 or 2019, he'd be a better choice than whom we did hire. Now, things have changed and he is not cut out to deal with the changed landscape. That's not a knock on him; I prefer the past too.

Gundy isn't being fired, the rumor is he's going to be forced to clean house of his entire staff and hire who they want him to hire. He's been there too long and done too much for that school for them to can him after one bad season. Now if next year is another really bad year, all bets are off. Might be a case like with Nehlen where the last couple years were showing the wear and tear and they might want to move on after another bad season or two.

He's been passed by. He did a great job elevating them to whatever you may consider them to be now, but it's pretty clear he's lost his passion and has just been chasing the bag for awhile.

It's good for WVU if they continue to let him overstay his welcome. He will sink them.

Agreed and that is why he falls into the same basket of candidates as Rodriguez and Fisher.

I'll pass on Jimbo, RR, and Gundy. Give me somebody less than 55 years old. Give me somebody hungry and innovative with a ton of energy. I want to attempt to strike gold, not settle for bronze or silver.

The guy is Oklahoma through and through. Played high school ball in OKC at Midwest City high, QB at Oklahoma State, and coach there for 20 years. There's no way he would consider moving away to a place like WVU. Besides, other than this past year, that would be a step down for him....

It's just to adjust his contract. They fired the OC and DC the other day. Gundy isn't on the hot seat, but if he has another disaster year he will be. This is the most successful run in Oklahoma State football history, he's built himself some leeway.

I get that this year was a disaster year for OSU compared to Gundy's typical year, but it is too early to say the game has passed him by. Last year was a 10 win season, bowl win, and a top 25 finish. Two years prior to that, he had 12 wins, Fiesta Bowl win, and a top 10 finish. He has done that consistently with recruiting classes from the mid-20s to the mid-40s. Those mid-20's were few and far between. He has done at OSU what we've been craving at our school.

    Depends upon the options.

If the option was Gundy vs Neal Brown he gets hired

If the option was Gundy vs Kirby Smart, then Smart gets the nod.

And so on and so forth. It’s all about the options.

What? He was just in the Big 12 title game last season and has been in two of the last four. If that's him "losing his passion and chasing the bag", I'll take that at WVU in a heartbeat.

He has plenty of money and is already the greatest figure in Oklahoma State football history (player or coach, or in his case both), and he'll have a large statue outside of the stadium. If he wanted to retire he'd do it. For WVU's sake I hope he retires. He'll have them winning again in no time. Sometimes I feel like people don't have long-term memory and only remember the last few months.

If they bungle this with the most popular athlete/coach in school history heads are going to roll. That fanbase will burn the AD's office and whatever they call their University board to the ground if they do wrong by Gundy lol.
